Perceptics Announces High Accuracy License Plate Reads

August 28, 2011 - Today Perceptics announced that its License Plate Recognition (LPR) systems performed at a test facility with greater than 95% accuracy.

An LPR read result is considered correct only if all the alphanumeric characters and the state, province or country of the license plate are correctly identified. To measure read rates, misread results are grouped into read errors and exclusions. Read errors are misreads that should have been read correctly by the LPR. Rejected reads are misreads that can be explained due to factors outside the LPR specification such as a damaged, obstructed plate or missing license plates. Typical exclusion rates have been found to be less than 5%, while average correct accuracy rates have been measured to be greater than 95%.
